Preamble

Welcome to the department of Theory of Education. The department aims to produce quality education practitioners for the secondary school sector. The department offers a foundation of educational theory and practice in the disciplines of Educational Psychology, Inclusive Education, Sociology of Education, Educational Administration, Philosophy and History of Education and Curriculum issues consistent with current trends. The sections are tailored to meet the 5.0 model of education which develops both the educators' and learners' problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, creativity, innovation, and an orientation towards the production of goods and services.

Subject Highlights

The course is designed for both post-A level and post-O-level students who undertake a 2-year/3-year Pre-service Diploma Course for secondary school teaching. For post-A level students, the course follows the 3-1-2 model: three terms residential phase, one term Attachment teaching Practice phase and two terms final residential phase. For post-O level students, The course follows the 3-3-3 model: three terms residential phase, three terms Attachment Teaching Practice and three terms final residential phase. The content covered is up to the first-year degree level in both cases.
